Man, Jon looks like he’s been through the ringer here! It’s amazing what can be done with the avatar appearance sliders alone.

There really is something particularly vapid about a “best chest” contest in SL, though. It’s basically judging one’s ability to skillfully manipulate the three or four torso sliders related to the female avatar’s bust. Kind of sad, when you look at it that way. Up until fairly recently ([link]), they didn’t even move! (And only now with substantial limitations, at significant cost.) [Nowadays, there is various built in physics-based bouncing. Still looks kind of disturbing and silly.] Nonetheless, such events remain a staple of the Second Life social scene. Depressing. Jon deserves what he got for even suggesting the idea.

Again with our extreme dislike for what passed as social events back then (and, I believe, hasn't changed much). I actually did give Tringo a fair chance and left thinking "Yup, that's exactly what I figured." The guy who invented it, though, is laughing all the way to the bank.

Laura and I, as the prototype Gretel and Jayne respectively, actually did attempt to "save" a newbie once by preaching the evils of vapid entertainment. It didn't work. We shoulda had a shock collar.
